Suicide and the attempt to commit suicide has been criminalized in Pakistan, with a failed suicide attempt carrying a yearlong incarceration as punishment.

The recent decriminalization of suicide by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party was also discussed during this live. Adv. Jillani also shed light on topics such as educating the police force in ways of dealing with people with mental illnesses and incorporating the teaching of legal jargon and methods in school curriculums so as to make it easy for the general public to recognize and exercise their constitutional rights.
